Bent Tree is a residential community with restricted access located just 60 miles north of downtown Atlanta. It is unique in its beauty and recreational diversity.

Bent Tree is a fully developed planned secured community nestled in the north Georgia mountains, with clean crisp mountain air, breath taking views, clear mountain streams, and abundant wildlife. The development was started around 1971 and has approximately 3500 acres of rolling hills, coves, streams, waterfalls, cliffs and gentle mountains with the highest elevation on Mt. Oglethorpe at 3300 feet.

The development was sold in 1984 and in that year the property owners' association acquired the amenities and formed a nonprofit corporation which has operated in the black ever since. A nine-member board of directors manages the community providing first class fire protection, full time security, emergency medical assistance, a private water system, road maintenance, and architectural controls to preserve the beauty of the area.

Bent Tree offers a 18-hole championship golf course, and a complete pro shop with a full time pro on staff. Property owners may elect to join the golf club, and personal golf carts are permitted on the course.

Club Tamarack, which includes the Fireside Lounge, provides dining on a limited schedule. The 19th Hole restaurant provides snacks, refreshments and light meals daily during the breakfast and lunch hours. It is also open several nights a week for dinner.

For those who prefer tennis, there are both indoor and outdoor courts for year round enjoyment, instruction is available for beginners through advanced levels of play.

An Olympic-size swimming pool is located beside our outdoor tennis courts and an adult pool (no one less than 18 please) is available adjacent to Club Tamarack.

There is a 110-acre lake that provides canoeing, sailing, fishing or swimming at a sandy beach. The lake has catfish, trout, bass and bluegill. Only electric motors are permitted on the lake. For the more active fishermen there are nine trout streams that feed the lake. There are nature trails for hiking or jogging along with 60 miles of paved roads.

Our stables can offer riding lessons, trail rides, hay rides, fireside cookouts, and horses can be rented by the hour or by the day.

For a home owner the total cost of living and playing at Bent Tree is under two hundred dollars a month including the amenities such as unlimited green fees, pools, etc. The cost if slightly less for a lot owner.

The cost of joining this mountain wonderland is almost unbelievable. Full membership comes with the purchase of a lot or home. Although every lot in Bent Tree has been sold to individual members, homesites and homes are available through resales. There are also many new "spec" homes available.
